Material is looking for school leavers to join our team of Apprentice Hairdressers. If you’re interested in a career in hairdressing we’d love to meet you!

Our training is unique; no other Stylist/Salon Director in this area has trained and qualified as a hairdresser to then go on and re-train in Sassoon precision hairdressing – still the world’s leading hairdressing salons and schools. Plus, we are the only independent hair salon team in Bath to include a Wella Master Colour Expert, meaning you learn all the classic and latest fashion techniques as soon as they are released by the Wella Academy.

Louise, NVQ Assessor and former Reflections Academy teacher, will be there to keep your qualification on track as well.

Our current apprentices work 5 days a week, spending 3 days assisting in the salon, one day training at Reflections Academy in Bristol, and another day a week training in the salon with Paul and Louise, who are both specially trained and highly experienced teachers – find out more about them here.

If you want to get the skills you need to cut and colour any shape and style consider training with us.

Don’t just take our word for it, one of our apprentices said this about their training at Material:

“Moving from Bath College to a salon would be easy you’d think, you’ve been shown and taught everything you need to make it as a Stylist, or at least that’s what I thought… My training began on top of my Assistant role: 4 models, 2-3 hours every Tuesday and Wednesday. In the space of 3 months my confidence, skills and knowledge about hair improved massively. I have learnt so much from Paul; if I hadn’t been given the chance to have the extra training, looking back I think I would have lacked a lot confidence in my work. I know that if I am ever unsure of anything, Paul is always right there. I am so glad that I have been given this opportunity to be working along side someone with as much knowledge and precision as Paul.”
